back to "Havana" project links

To-Do: "Coming Soon" Page

  1. Amazon affiliate ID in links
  2. "... Photo Gallery section there is no obvious way to get back to the home page..."
  3. Alan Hess blurb on home and Press Room
  4. enlarge Amazon button
  5. Instead of the cover image linking to the main page, it should link to a blowup of the cover (just as Ms. Gamms links to a blowup of her).
  6. With the long vertical column of "About the Book," can you move the bullet paragraphs around (i.e. filling up the space on the left and right) so that you don't have to scroll down so far to reach the Chapter Highlights?
  7. The Aunt Nena Club image needs a watermark (perhaps not a transparant one as the background is white).
  8. Link all of the images to blow-up photos with watermarks (including cover & gamms)
  9. Remove the Table of Contents column on the right
  10. Remove the text explaining the press room (apparently those who would be accessing the Press Room know what it should contain)
  11. Move the Press Room button above Chaper Highlights
  12. Remove the "Download the Press Release..." statement on the lower left because it's available in the Press Room
  13. With all of the new space, increase the size of the typeface for "About the Book" and all of its following bullet points and spread them out so that they are not in one long column
  14. As a result, I would expect that the Chapter Highlights thumbnails will move much closer to the top (without so much space between them and the About the Book section.
  15. Marvin R. Shanken's blurb on home page, complete quote in PressRoom
  16. (need clarification): "Chapter Highlights" button that leads down below to the individual chapter buttons
  17. watermark most images, copyright/ownership for "borrowers"
  18. width of custom HR's
  19. Press Room button
  20. Drop the highlighted words in the "about this book" section
  21. move book's cover to masthead
  22. Keep the "ms.Leggs" photo somewhere on the page (but replace with book cover)
  23. beef-up the clarity, orientation, or size of author photo
  24. Contrast and lighten images, look into sepia tone (where'd it go?)
  25. mini-chapter images
  26. press room havana as eps
  27. press room more sizes on images
  28. press room more author photos
  29. press room "latest news" -- add "Review" consistent with "Press Release:"
  30. How about a "downsampling" of images javascript... put a class on them and it will replace the low and hi bandwidth images???
  31. redirect "info@HavanaBeforeCastro.com" to "pmoruzzi@earthlink.net"
  32. I was thinking that the main page would still have blurb nuggets like "an unparalleled reading experience" (with a link to the Library Journal site) along with my photo and the press release button...
  33. ...but then have the full reviews, available photos, and other media related stuff in a "Press Room."
  34. attach author's photo, insert near my name (that hopefully can link to a blowup of the photo).
  35. Let's give prominence to our publicist with an email link to her. It should say:
    Jennifer King
    Publicist
    801-927-2171
Contact (with a link to jking@gibbs-smith.com)
  36. also attached other great atmospheric images, all of which will appear when the chapter thumbnails are selected.
  37. keywords: Havana, Habana, Castro, Cuba, Tropicana, Lansky, Prohibition, Mojito, Desi Arnaz, Buena Vista Social Club, Mob, cigar, cigars, Batista, Moruzzi
  38. Later, I'll let you know which words should link to another page. For example, I like the link to the Shanghai Theatre but links aren't needed for Xavier Cugat, Desi Arnaz, and the Buena Vista social club.
  39. Seed images for Google Image search
  40. Contact info is only on PDF... do we want an email such as "info@HavanaBeforeCastro.com" in the footer? (JavaScript protect against spam bots)
  41. The correct spelling of my last name is Moruzzi (you got it right on About Peter Moruzzi). Don't forget to change the name spelling on the cigar box, too.
  42. Instead of saying "in bookstores this Fall" change it to "in bookstores this August" and, at the bottom "Coming August 2008"
  43. I gave you the wrong press release; I've attached the correct one in pdf format.
  44. I've moved the first sentence of my bio to the second line, so it now reads:
An architectural historian by profession, Peter Moruzzi is an acknowledged expert on mid-century Modern architecture and design. Born in Concord, Massachusetts, in 1961 and raised in Hawaii, Moruzzi graduated from the University of California at Berkeley and later attended the American Film Institute in Los Angeles. He resides in the Silver Lake district of Los Angeles and in Palm Springs, California. He has been obsessed with the history of Cuba since 1987.
